3.15%, 4% and 3% Salary |
As the leadership caucus in the PSC, we applaud the gains and the creative breakthroughs in this contract. Every step forward in this agreement was made in the face of management’s rigid opposition to our vision of contractual provisions that promote equity, competitive salaries, professional development, job security and workload reduction. We achieved the advances listed here while defeating management demands for removal of steps, moving chairs out of the bargaining unit, and adding hundreds of non-tenure lines with unlimited renewal. We recommend a resounding YES vote. Does this contract meet our contract goals of substantial salary increases, a reduction in workload and equity across the bargaining unit? No! But in a period of austerity budgets for the state and city, it enables us to go into the fight for the next contract from a position of strength. The New Caucus is committed to increasing the PSC's power through coordinated member activism. A YES vote will empower us to immediately move forward with vigorous campaigns to remedy inequities and transform our working environment into one that truly reflects the highest standards of our profession and the interests of our students. |
