In a previous email, we made the following commitment:

Thirteen chapters [now fifteen]...have extended invitations to both caucuses for a debate.  We accepted every invitation and are flexible if adjustments are necessary in scheduling [emphasis added].   We call on the "CUNY Alliance" to make a similar commitment.

The "Alliance's" response was:

The "Alliance" has every right to raise issues about the contract and the welfare fund -- but not if it refuses to participate in Delegate Assembly and chapter deliberations and now debates across the CUNY spectrum about these very issues.

What is the record of engagement of "Alliance" candidates with the work of the union?

As of Monday night, March 20th, the "Alliance's" website acknowledged that it had committed to three debates between now and the election -- none at senior colleges* or at Kingborough CC, a chapter which Rina Yarmish (the "Alliance" candidate for President) chairs.

(Click here for details about the "Alliance's" record of non-participation at the Delegate Assembly and chapter meetings.)

MEMBERSHIP DESERVES A LEADERSHIP THAT'S PRESENT -- THAT'S ACCOUNTABLE -- THAT NOT ONLY FILLS CHAIRS, BUT BUILDS A RECORD.

RE-ELECT NEW CAUCUS.  You can see our election slate and get more information about the New Caucus at www.newcaucus.org.

*A member of the "Alliance" slate at York College contacted Janice Cline, the York Chapter Chair, stating that he was willing to represent the CA at a March 22nd debate.  The New Caucus had already committed to the debate.  But the debate is not listed on the "Alliance" website (click here) as of Monday night, March 20.
