  1. Who is eligible to vote at the NC Convention?

    2. The New Caucus By-Laws were amended at a general meeting on May 25, 2004, as follows: 

    “All members shall be eligible to attend a General Membership meeting on payment of their annual dues. Only those members who have been members for at least two months prior to the meeting shall be eligible to vote at a General Meeting. Members whose prior membership has lapsed because of failure to pay dues shall become eligible to vote at a General Membership meeting on payment of their dues.” 

    The rationale for this amendment: It is important that CUNY-wide slates be chosen by a process that is not potentially open to manipulation by last-minute recruitment of members. This has not happened in the past, and it is prudent to adopt by-laws to assure that it never does. 

    Thus if you were a member of the New Caucus at any time before November 28, 2005, you are eligible to vote at the Convention upon dues payment. If you joined the NC after Nov. 28, you are invited to attend the convention and speak, but not vote. If you are considering membership in the New Caucus, you are welcome to attend, and may be recognized to speak if time permits.
     

  2. Who is eligible to be nominated for a position on the NC Slate?

    3. Any New Caucus member is eligible to be nominated for a position on the slate, providing he/she has been a member of PSC-CUNY for at least four months (this is a PSC requirement). Thus it is possible for a person to join the New Caucus at or just before the Convention, and be elected as a candidate by the Convention. (Of course she/he is not eligible to vote at any NC general meeting until two months have elapsed.)   
     

  3. Are you eligible to vote at the convention?
    As noted above, if you were a member of the New Caucus at any time before November 28, 2005, you are eligible to vote at the Convention upon dues payment. To pay your dues, just fill out the membership form online by clicking here.
