A Response to Fred Brodzinski

Fred Brodzinski. isn’t a serious candidate for the Chair of the HEO chapter. If he were as concerned about HEOs as he says, he would have taken the time to organize a slate that is representative of all the HEOs. As it is, his slate, with the exception of one, is a CCNY slate. No other campus, except for KCC, is represented. Furthermore, six of them are doing double duty as officers and delegates to the Delegate Assembly. Since there are no alternate delegates, they themselves will have to attend each DA. How likely is that to happen?

HE DIMINISHES THE VOICE OF HEOs

Fred Brodzinki.’s slate diminishes the voice of HEOs, while the New Caucus (NC) slate strengthens it.

If he thinks he can get away with assembling a bogus slate, you can be sure that he would not do much to advance HEO issues if elected.

WHAT IS HIS REAL AGENDA?

What is Fred Brodzink’s real agenda?  Two years ago, he ran on a “Faculty First” slate (yes – “Faculty First”) at CCNY.  Last year, running for PSC President, he identified himself as a faculty member, even though he’s a full time HEO. It was only at the end of his campaine that he made reference to being the only HEO ever to run for PSC president. Was he ashamed of being a HEO or just playing politics?  This year he had a makeover and now parades himself as a HEO advocate.  Is his agenda to advance faculty, HEOs or his own standing with management?

NEW CAUCUS: A SLATE WITH CANDIDATES FROM EVERY CAMPUS

The New Caucus HEO leadership took months to develop a full slate of thirty-four people, so that the voice of each campus would be heard. Compare its visibility, breadth, and advocacy with Fred Brodzinki’s slate.  Iris DeLutro, the Chair of the NC slate, sits on the Executive Council along with three HEOs. She has been on the negotiations team for three rounds of bargaining and has been fighting for a method of HEO promotions, stopped management’s attempt to impose a part-time HEO line, and taken a leading role in arbitration and grievances to enforce overtime rules. She regularly visits every CUNY campus to listen to and engage the HEO membership. Working with our state and national affiliates as well as the PSC, she has advanced the issue of bullying in the workplace so that it now receives national attention.

Iris DeLutro has always fought for HEOs and, along with her slate, she will not stop fighting. Go with serious, tested and broadly representative leadership!

Vote for the New Caucus slate!
